SNP to enter independence talks if wins most seats at next GE

Labour's Rachel Reaves has said her party would not enter into negotiations

Labour’s Shadow Chancellor says her party would refuse to enter negotiations on independence if the SNP wins the most seats in Scotland at the General Election.

The First Minister is promising to seek talks with the UK Government if the SNP emerges with the most MPs after the next vote.

On a by-election campaign visit to Blantyre, Rachel Reeves said Labour would not consider that a mandate in any way for another referendum.

But Humza Yousaf insists a vote for his party will be a vote for independence.
