Significant drop in seabird numbers after avian flu outbreak

The RSPB are warning the virus remains one of the biggest threats to conservation

If you were on Scotland’s coastline a couple of years ago it’s impossible to forget the sight of large numbers of dead seabirds having been washed up onto the shore – killed by avian flu.

Now the RSPB says the H5N1 outbreak caused a significant decline in several species of birds.
