One of Scotland’s leading surgeons has told STV News people are waiting two years for vital surgery which would help them see properly again.
A shortage of tissue for cornea transplants is a major factor behind the delay – the outer layer of the eye must be retrieved within 24 hours of a donor’s death.
Now extra staff are being employed to help make the process run more smoothly.
