First it was BP – now Shell have announced huge profits after the war in Ukraine sparked a rise in oil and gas prices. The energy firm had record underlying earnings of more than £7bn in the first three months of this year.
It comes as there are warnings the economy could be heading for a recession as the interest rate in the UK has increased again to try and tackle the rising costs of goods including soaring energy bills. Steven Brown reports.
