Sewage discharged into Scotland’s waters every 90 seconds, say campaigners

Surfers Against Sewage estimates there may have been more than 360,000 discharges.

Sewage may have been discharged into Scotland’s rivers, lochs and seas every 90 seconds last year.

That’s according to campaign group Surfers Against Sewage.

It estimates there may have been more than 360,000 sewage discharges, with nearly 2,000 swimmers reporting falling ill.
