Services at risk without government funding says care charity

Last month Quarriers announced the closure of three of their homes - saying they couldn't staff them appropriately

Quarriers is a charity which provides tens of thousands of hours of care to a range of people, many who could be considered the most vulnerable in society.

But while they provide a vital service, they’re warning if its not better funded by the Scottish Govenment there are difficult decisions to come.

Staff are paid well below those working in the NHS and local authorities – and following pay increases in those sectors, they are falling further behind.

Experts say that is causing those who work at Quarriers to question their futures and putting the long term viability of services at risk.
