Scottish surgeon carried out UK’s first womb transplant

It's a medical milestone and its giving hope to thousands of women across the country

A pioneering Scottish surgeon is at the forefront of the UK’s first ever womb transplant.

Professor Richard Smith, from Glasgow, and his team carried out the procedure in Oxford on a 34 year old woman ,who was receiving her sister’s womb.

Professor Smith said it had been an emotional day.
