Scottish Government to legally challenge Section 35 order

The order was used to block the Gender Recognition Reform Bill in January

The Scottish and UK governments are on a collision course – once again tonight – which will end up in court.

The new First Minister is launching a legal challenge to the block on the gender recognition reform bill.

The controversial legislation was passed at Holyrood in December but the Scottish Secretary later used what’s called a section 35 order to stop it – claiming there was a conflict with the UK-wide equality act.
