Scottish deer farming aims to double meat output by 2030

Seven years on, deer farming faces hurdles despite growth plan.

By 2030 the Scottish Government wants to more than double the amount of meat produced by deer farms, to match global demand and reduce imports into the UK.

It published a plan in 2018 to help support the sector and grow the multi-million pound industry.

But seven years on, local producers say there are still challenges which need to be addressed.
