Scots scientists new research for tackling Bronchiectasis

It's a largely unknown condition that can make the lungs more vulnerable to infection.

Scientists in Scotland are using cutting edge technology to tackle a silent and serious lung condition.

Bronchiectasis affects more than 5,000 people here, but that number is likely to be much higher as it is often undiagnosed or mis-diagnosed.

It can lead to multiple infections due to a build up of mucus in the lungs – it’s hoped a new type of test will mean more patients are identified and their condition managed quicker.
