Scotland’s jails are facing a “ticking time bomb”.
That’s according to prison officers, who say pressure on them is mounting, due to unprecedented population levels behind bars.
It comes as the Scottish Government outlined plans for the emergency early release of up to 1,000 prisoners across Scotland between now and April.
Ministers hope that will ease what has been branded “a perfect storm”
