Scotland’s first commercial windfarm to be dismantled

When it was built in 1995 Hagshaw Hill was at the forefront of technology

It was Scotland’s first commercial windfarm. But the 26 turbines that make up the site at Hagshaw Hill near Douglas in South Lanarkshire are being dismantled to make way for a new generation of wind power.

The number of turbines will be almost halved but thanks to updated technology, it will be able to produce five times the amount of power as it did when it was built in 1995.
