School workers to strike as unions fail to reach pay deal

Parents have told STV News the strikes have made planning childcare exceptionally difficult

Many of Scotland’s schools will be closed for three days from tomorrow, after talks between unions and the local council body COSLA, failed to reach an agreement over the weekend.

Cleaners, janitors and office staff are among the non-teaching staff walking out after rejecting the latest pay offer.

But not all planned strikes will go ahead, as two of the three main unions – Unite and GMB – have paused action while members consider the offer – creating a mixed picture across the country.
