School pupils offered free vet course as industry in ‘crisis’

The sessions will run at various times throughout the year.

School pupils in Angus are being offered the chance to try their hand at being a vet nurse as the industry faces a workforce crisis.

Thrums Vets in Kirriemuir has launched a free two-day course for 15 to 17 year olds to encourage more young people to consider a career caring for animals.

The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons say Covid and Brexit created the ‘perfect storm’ of more people with pets but less vets to treat them.
