Robert the Bruce’s criminal great-grandson remembered in new steel statue

Alexander Stewart, the Earl of Buchan, was branded 'The Wolf of Badenoch'.

One of Scotland’s most destructive criminals has been given a new lease of life, six centuries after his death.

The great-grandson of Scots king Robert the Bruce burned down religious sites in a violent rampage across Moray and the Highlands.

Alexander Stewart, the Earl of Buchan, has now re-emerged in the form of a symbolic steel statue in Kingussie.

It’s hoped the artwork will become a tourist attraction.
