Review launched into handling of transwomen in prison system

A trans campaigner has said the debate around this is rooted in "moral panic"

The First Minister has insisted transwomen do not have an automatic right to go to women’s jails.

It comes as a review is launched into a rapist who was initially sent to a female prison, after commiting crimes as a man then identifying as a woman.

The case of the prisoner now using the name Isla Bryson has been politically controversial.

Then it emerged another violent criminal who now identifies as Tiffany Scott had a move to a women’s prison blocked too.
