The amount of money we’re spending when we head to the shops has returned to pre-pandemic levels for the first time time since the Covid crisis began. Last month retail figures were up by 0.6% when compared with March 2019.
But while bosses say sales figures are “sparkling”, they’re also warning of “economic storm clouds” as the cost of living crisis shows no sign of slowing.
