Renters ‘surviving not thriving’ amid rising payments ahead of Housing Bill vote

Average rents in every area of Scotland have doubled since 2010.

One Glasgow resident has said that renters are “surviving, not thriving” after having their monthly payments doubled.

The latest Scottish Government figures show that the cost of renting in Scotland has risen beyond the average rate of inflation.

The government will vote on the Housing Bill proposals in Holyrood tomorrow, but one long-term renter says the market is forcing their decision to leave the country.
