Record number of Scottish families in temporary accommodation

Some are being sent hundreds of miles away because local councils don't have the resources

A record number of families in Scotland – including more than eight thousand children – have been forced into temporary homeless accommodation in the past year.

This week, a family from Edinburgh were told there was no suitable housing for them – so they were sent to Newcastle. Charities are expecting the crisis to deepen as winter approaches and the cost of living increases.
