Record number of people in Scotland in temporary accommodation

A total of 32,000 households were classed as homeless as of March this year

A record number of people are living in temporary homeless accommodation in Scotland – including 10 thousand children.

That’s a 10% increase in just a year, according to official figures published today.

Overall, the numbers of people presenting as homeless are higher now than they were before the pandemic.

And campaigners are warning that with demand for social housing far outstripping supply, the private rental market needs to be more accessible.
