Record high water temperatures threaten fish in the Dee

Angling on the river is worth over £14m a year to the local economy.

Record high water temperatures for May are threatening fish in one of Aberdeenshire’s most famous rivers.

The River Dee Trust says a temperature of 21C has already been recorded in the Dee’s upper tributaries.

It’s warning the conditions are having a negative impact on salmon stocks. and is calling on the public to support an initiative to plant more trees to help protect the species.
