Rape survivor hopes to set precedent with lawyer complaints

Ellie's ex-boyfriend Daniel McFarlane was convicted of two rape charges and sentenced to 5 years

A rape survivor who has had her complaints against a defence lawyer upheld, says she hopes the decision will set a legal precedent.

Ellie Wilson says she now feels vindicated after being left humiliated and traumatised by Lorenzo Alonzi’s questioning and comments during the trial of her rapist two years ago.

The Faculty of Advocates complaints committee found Mr Alonzi had repeatedly crossed the line of what was acceptable and this amounted to unsatisfactory professional conduct.
