Questions over accommodation as Ukrainians leave cruise ships

The Scottish Government is spending £50m on refurbishing out-of-use homes around the country

Scotland prided itself on giving a warm welcome to the thousands of Ukrainian refugees seeking safety when Russia invaded last year.

But finding suitable accommodation for them has added yet more pressure to councils already struggling to meet housing demands.

Hundreds of families spent months living on cruise ships in Edinburgh and Glasgow, with children going to nearby schools and parents trying to find local work.

But now those contracts have ended, what’s next for those trying to make a fresh start in Scotland?
