Public urged not to feed birds amid avian flu outbreak

More than 1,300 of cases of Avian flu were confirmed in wild birds across the UK in 2023.

Fife Coast and Countryside Trust say they’re “devastated” following the death of a swan from avian flu.

The charity found a number of dead birds at Birnie and Gaddon Loch in December, with tests confirming the presence of bird flu.

The public are being urged not to feed any birds to prevent the disease spreading.
