Proposal to scrap exams for fourth year pupils

A major qualifications report has said there shouldn't be exams any before fifth year

It’s being described as a “radical shift” in Scottish education – the idea that exams for pupils in fourth year could be scrapped.

The proposal to end Nat 5’s which replaced Standard Grades and O-levels – is being made in a review of qualifications.

The Scottish Government is now considering the issue – while the leader of the country’s biggest teaching union supports the change and says it should have happened years ago.
