Private nurseries say the Scottish Government’s funded childcare scheme is “broken,” with more than 100 nurseries closing their doors in the last 2 years.
The National Day Nurseries Association argue “unfair funding” from councils, increased running costs and staff shortages have left private providers facing their biggest crisis yet.
The First Minister promised to expand free childcare even further to include babies as young as 9 months old.
