Prisons trialling new rehabilitation programmes

The justice secretary said Scotland's jails are facing a crisis.

Up to 500 convicted criminals could be released from prison up to six months early to ease overcrowding.

Justice secretary Angela Constance warns they are struggling to deliver rehabilitation programmes, health care and even enable family visits.

One thing which is under threat and seen as critical in cutting reoffending is ensuring prisoners have access to rehabilitation programmes when they’re inside.
