Presenter Paul Whitehouse opens Tay Salmon season

Every salmon is vital to the preservation of an iconic species

The Tay Salmon season got off to a frosty start this morning, with comedian and TV presenter Paul Whitehouse helping to ‘break the ice’ at the opening ceremony.

Catches have slumped in recent years, with the river’s conservation boss warning that climate change is driving fish at sea hundreds of miles north in search of colder water.

More young salmon could be released to help reverse the decline.
