Prehistoric ‘lost community’ uncovered near Glasgow

Five prehistoric roundhouses, characteristic of the Bronze and Iron Ages, have been discovered near Crookston Castle.

A “lost community” dating back thousands of years has been discovered near Crookston Castle, near Glasgow.

The remains of at least five prehistoric roundhouses characteristic of the Bronze and Iron Ages were found at Crookston Castle, alongside a palisaded enclosure that may have surrounded them.

The discovery changes the history of the site from a medieval site to a prehistoric site, in what’s billed as another chance to put a Scottish site on the map.

Volunteers from the Friends of Crookston Castle teamed up with local schools for a three-day scan of the site.
