Imagine dedicating your life to a hobby or passion only for it to be taken away from you in one cruel twist of fate.
That’s exactly what happened to powerlifter Nikola Murray, just as she was on her way to the top of the sport.
The 26-year-old suffered a catastrophic injury to her spinal cord during a gym session – with doctors telling her it looked like a bomb had hit her spine.
Nikola then caught sepsis and had to learn to walk again – but in an extraordinary recovery the lifter now has her sights set on global competition.
