The last few years, in the wake of Covid and the cost of living crisis, have seen a significant rise in mental health problems.
And when that becomes a crisis it’s often the police picking up the pieces.
We’ve reported previously on STV News about Scotland’s chief constable saying the amount of time tied up dealing with such cases amounts to the equivalent of hundreds of officers per year – and usually no crime has been committed.
Now a new approach in Lanarkshire is offering a solution.
