Patients waiting 20 years for Ehlers-Danlos Syndromes diagnosis

One patient told STV News the pain is often so bad, it leaves her feeling suicidal.

People living with what’s thought to be the most common genetic connective tissue disorder in Scotland are waiting on average 20 years for a diagnosis.

Ehlers-Danlos Syndromes are a group of life-long conditions that affect tendons, ligaments, blood vessels and organs.

Campaigners are raising awareness at Holyrood in a bid to encourage a better pathway to care as it’s estimated around 20,000 people are living with the condition.
