Parents ‘outraged’ over plans to cut school learning hours

Falkirk Council is facing a budget gap of £62.5 million over the next five years

Thousands of parents across Falkirk say they are “outraged” at the local authority’s latest plans to cut school learning hours in a bid to save money.

The council said if school hours are not reduced, there will need to be cuts to staff and services.

For primary school pupils, the week could reduce from 25 hours of learning to 22.5, while in secondary from 26.6 hours to 24.7.

The Scottish Government said cuts to learning hours are unacceptable.
