Paddleboarding mum meets RNLI crew that saved her life at sea

Mandy Galloway was rescued by RNLI lifeboats after getting into difficulty while paddleboarding in Fife

A mother-of-four who was rescued by lifeboat crews after drifting out to sea on a paddleboard has thanked volunteers who saved her life.

Mandy Galloway was rescued by the RNLI after she was swept two miles out to sea whilst paddleboarding with her partner off Kingsbarns, Fife, in 2023.

The 45-year-old was left clinging to her paddleboard while her partner returned to shore to raise the alarm, which deployed two RNLI lifeboats to the area she was last seen.

Three years on, Mandy has met with the crew, who she dubbed “heroes”, for the first time since her rescue, and thanked them for doing an amazing job.

“Without you I wouldn’t be here and my kids wouldn’t have a mum,” she said.
