Over 100,000 without power as Storm Eowyn hits Scotland

Schools, shops and workplaces have closed across the country.

Scotland closed down today as Storm Eowyn brought hurricane-force winds.

Most people heeded the red alert and stayed at home as the storm wrought its worst.

More than 100,000 homes are without power while houses have been damaged by falling trees and roads have been blocked.

Schools, shops, and workplaces remained closed. Wind gusts of more than one hundred miles per hour were recorded.

Tonight, we will see some of the most dramatic images of the storm, and we will have reporters across the country to tell us what has been happening.
