New figures show just over 2,500 short term let licencing applications have been lodged, despite the deadline being just weeks away.
From October all Air BNB style lets will need a licence to continue operating legally. But by March this year, only 78 applications had been lodged in Glasgow, and just 90 in Edinburgh – where there are an estimated five thousand short term lets.
Pressure is now mounting on the first minister to rethink the scheme, after a cross party group of MSPs signed a letter to Humza Yousaf saying it would “decimate” the sector.
