Oil and gas workers ‘unwilling to board Super Pumas over safety fears’

Concerns over the helicopter remain after a number of fatal crashes.

Hundreds of oil workers say they’ll never set foot in a Super Puma helicopter again over safety fears.

The model was involved in a number of fatal crashes in the North Sea. It’s no longer used in the UK offshore sector – but Unite the Union say a survey of its members show the majority are unwilling to fly in the model.

The industry say there are no plans to reintroduce them. Steven Brown reports
