Oil and gas decline blamed for North East employment drop

The decline of oil and gas in recent years has been partly blamed for both a fall in wages and employment across the North and North East of the country.

A new report from the Institute for Fiscal Studies has found that growth across Scotland has slowed and that employment in the Highlands, Islands and North East has fallen.

It comes as the oil industry has warned that policies such as the windfall tax are driving investment away from the regions.
