Officers could bring legal action against Police Scotland over Trump visit

The Scottish Police Federation, which represents 98% of the country’s officers, is seeking legal advice.

It’s one of the largest policing operations in the forces’ history, but the way that Police Scotland handles President Trump’s visit this week could now be the subject of legal action from its own officers.

The Scottish Police Federation, which represents 98% of the country’s officers, is seeking legal advice because it believes the operation breaches legally binding workplace arrangements – and the Presidential visit will have a significant impact on officers.

It comes as the Police Service of Northern Ireland confirmed it had been asked to send officers to Scotland to provide support.
