Number of kidney donations and transplants hits record high

One woman and her aunt have told STV News how it was their miracle

As the NHS marks its 75th anniversary, the number of people donating and receiving kidney transplants in Glasgow has hit an all time high.

More than 200 operations were carried out last year — including 52 from living donors.

A big part of the success is the UK Living Kidney Sharing Scheme.

It pools donors and recipients, making it easier to find matches within the group.
