A UK energy minister has insisted there is no hammer blow for oil and gas workers, after the energy firm Petrofac filed for administration.
The company says its North Sea operations, which employ 2,000 people in Scotland, will carry on as normal, as administrators are appointed for its parent company.
Opposition parties say UK Government policies have created uncertainty in the sector, but the Government insists Petrofac workers in the North East have been protected.
