NHS gynaecology delays: ‘If I didn’t pay to go private, I might have died from cancer’

An Elgin mum who discovered she had cancer after going private has warned that lives are being put at risk by NHS gynaecology waiting times.

Women waiting for specialist gynaecology treatment say they’re being failed by the NHS, with one patient telling STV News if she’d not gone private, she might have died.

After being told she’d need to wait 18 months for treatment, Sarah Beaton paid for a private scan of her uterus which revealed cancer.

Gynaecology cases are now among the worst affected by delays.
