New permit comes into force for brown bins in Glasgow

The council say were necessary to meet a substantial funding black hole

Glasgow residents have spoken of their frustration at being charged £50 to empty their brown bins.

A new garden waste permit has come into force across the city, and anyone wishing to dispose of grass or hedge trimmings needs a permit for their wheelie bins.

The city council say there’s no legal obligation to collect garden waste and cutbacks were necessary to meet a substantial funding black hole.
