New legislation introduced to criminalise buying sex

A campaign group of sex workers say Ash Regan's bill would only push the industry underground.

People who pay for sex could face fines and a potential prison sentence if new legislation is passed at Holyrood.

Lodging her proposed bill on Tuesday, Alba MSP Ash Regan said prostitution is a form of violence against women and current laws allow men to “order women like pizzas.”

But a campaign group of sex workers say the proposals would only push the industry underground and put them in even more danger.
