New figures show Scotland sees and increase in suicide rates

The Scottish Government said every death is a tragedy and insisted they're committed to doubling suicide prevention funding by 2026

Scotland’s suicide rate has increased slightly for 2022 saw a small increase compared with the previous year.

Figures released today by the National Records of Scotland show nine more deaths by suicide.

The biggest increase was found in women.

And while the number of males dying of suicide decreased slightly – the rate for men is still three times higher.
