Developers of a multi-million pound Dundee facility for female prisoners are hoping low risk offenders will soon be better equipped to return to society. The Bella Centre – which provides housing instead of cells – opens its doors next week.

But it’s proximity to a local primary school has angered some in the community – with around 1300 signing a petition opposing the plans in 2018.
