New drilling licenses will boost economy says oil industry

Climate campaigners have hit out at the move and warned they may go to court over the issue.

The oil industry says the awarding of more drilling licences in the North Sea will boost the UK’s energy security.

27 licences have been granted in areas that the sector’s regulator says can be developed more quickly than others.
