New bill could see social media bosses face jail time

The law would require providers to remove harmful content

Bosses at social media companies who fail to block children from seeing damaging content on their platforms could be held criminally responsible under legislation to be debated in the Commons tonight.

The Online Safety Bill has been years in the making – with tensions between those who felt it didn’t offer enough protections and others who believed it could put freedom of expression at risk.
