Network Rail fined £6.7 million over fatal Stonehaven derailment

It also admitted a number of failures around the maintenance and inspection of a drain

Network Rail has been fined £6.7 pounds after admitting health and safety failings over a fatal rail crash.

Three people died and 6 were injured when the Aberdeen to Glasgow train hit a landslide near Stonehaven in August 2020.

At the High Court in Aberdeen, the company admitted a series of failings that resulted in the deaths, including failing to warn the driver to reduce his speed in bad weather on the day of the derailment.
