An Edinburgh woman who says she was left “crippled” by a metal hip implant is demanding answers from its manufacturer, claiming the prosthetic almost “poisoned her to death.”
Lilias Watters says metal from the prosthetic leeched into her body causing fatigue and debilitating pain.
A safety alert was issued for a similar type of hip implant earlier this year, but experts are urging patients not to worry.
Around 120,000 hip replacement surgeries are carried out every year in the UK – the vast majority are a success, with life changing results.
